Hive- a hexagon shaped carpet tile
Does carpet tile have to be square? Inspired by our industrious friend, the Honey Bee & Mannington’s Create LVT line, Hive is a hexagon shaped carpet tile.
The hexagonal shape of the cells of a beehive honeycomb makes efficient use of space and building materials. Hexagons fit together without any gaps to tile the plane and are useful for constructing tessellations.
Hive is a multi-level loop pile, with a linear slub and a tone-on-tone, all-over pattern mimicking the way bees “clump” when in groups.
The corners of a square carpet tile are sheared off (see image, below). The triangular corner clippings can be used to to create unique flooring patterns. Mannington could offer hexagon tile option with their existing patterns.
